hello

My Work

Illustration of a brain.

My Nature: CSS Flex Play

My web design explorations so far have been marked by a heavy reliance in CSS Grid functionality. While I love CSS Grid, I want to make sure that I’m not ignoring other affordances of the technology that would greatly expand my options as a designer. My Nature is a weekend project I made relying more on CSS Flex box for greater responsivity. It is a basic static page that lists some of my greatest strengths as a productive individual and employee.

Quinnipiac University Landing Page

In the pursuit for greater competency as a web designer I mocked up a conversion-centered landing page for a marketing campaign launched by Quinnipiac University. The primary objective of the campaign is to collect up-to-date contact information from potential students who are currently enrolled in high school. The secondary objective is to offer them free tickets to a Quinnipiac University hockey game so they can visit the campus, absorb the culture, and consider their future as a Bobcat!

First Custom WordPress Theme

In celebration of the one year anniversary of my website in December of 2018 I decided to develop my own custom WordPress theme. I hit the books, learned some basic HTML and CSS, and developed a site layout responsive to the user experience across multiple devices. To top it off, I developed a fun brand illustration system to tie the site together with a collection of fresh graphics I refer to as my “sunset fun-set”.

EAB Web Design

I designed this static web page using content published on EAB’s adult student marketing blog. My goal was to convert the blog content from an article to a more visual lay-out using HTML, CSS, and custom illustration I designed in Adobe Illustrator.

Logo Design

In addition to freelance logo work I’ve completed on Fiverr, I registered for The Daily Logo Challenge. This subscription service emails a logo prompt to subscribers every morning to encourage creativity and technical competence. I return the logo challenge every so often to keep me productive when I’m at a loss for inspiration. Check them out by clicking the button below.

Duolingo Case Study

Duolingo is a popular application that encourages users to learn foreign languages with games, social networking, and rewards. Integral to the platform is a simple brand illustration system that inspired me to explore, imitate, and innovate.

CSS Grid Systems

CSS Grid is a powerful development tool that affords developers maximum control over positioning and spacing within site layouts. CSS Grid Systems is a short demonstration of CSS Grid with inspiration from Josef Müller-Brockmann’s book Grid Systems. This static page was designed using a four column grid without explicit consideration for the mobile experience however landscape view should help to accommodate visitors browsing on smaller devices.

Redbull Commercial Storyboard

Redbull’s marketing stands out and reaches back into my childhood. While they’re often associated with extreme sports, exhausted students, and late-night parties, I’m drawn primarily to their witty animated advertisements. This interest inspired me to study the illustration style and create my own storyboard for a Redbull commercial.

Indie Horror Branding

An independent director named Thomas Kerr reached out to me to design marketing assets for a horror series he envisioned named Grace and the Lighthouse Keeper. This material was used to market his concept to audiences on Facebook in addition to a popular crowdfunding website called Indiegogo.
